POE 2 Items are becoming more closely tied to how experienced players approach the redesigned endgame in early-access version 0.5. Instead of simply running maps and adding league mechanics whenever they appear, veterans are testing complete farming loops built around specific rewards, currencies, and progression systems. The changes have made several familiar mechanics feel almost like separate endgame activities.
For players collecting POE 2 Items, this shift is especially important because efficiency now depends on understanding how each mechanic works rather than relying on older habits. Delirium, Visium remnants, Abyss, Breach, Ritual, and Runesmithing have all received meaningful changes, while the upcoming 0.5.5 balance patch is giving experienced players another reason to keep experimenting.
Delirium Rewards Without Endless Backtracking
Delirium is probably the clearest example of veteran players finding a new way to approach an old mechanic. In previous versions, the basic challenge involved following the fog while clearing monsters and trying to maintain momentum. The redesigned version encourages a more deliberate strategy.
Players can enter a map, secure the important endgame checkpoint, and move toward the boss. After interacting with the Delirium mirror, they work toward filling the progress bar. Once it reaches 100%, the Delirium shards can be brought together at the player's location.
This makes it possible to avoid repeatedly running through areas that have already been cleared. Instead of treating the entire map as one long chase, experienced players can prepare the boss area and concentrate the reward process there.
The strategy is particularly appealing for characters with strong boss damage because they can combine the Delirium reward setup with the final encounter instead of wasting time on unnecessary movement.
Visium Remnants Offer More Strategic Choices
Visium remnants are receiving serious attention because they provide more than another source of monsters. The mechanic gives players reward choices, opportunities to increase the value of encounters, and a dedicated currency system.
Veterans are testing different ways to chain these encounters together and determine which choices produce the best returns. The biggest attraction is the potential for large loot explosions when several bonuses line up correctly.
There is still plenty of room for experimentation. Players are comparing reward combinations, map layouts, and investment levels rather than treating one strategy as completely solved. This makes Visium particularly interesting for players who enjoy optimizing their Atlas instead of simply repeating the same map.
Abyss Is Being Tested Against Breach
Breach remains relevant, but Abyss is receiving attention from players who prioritize experience. The redesigned mechanics allow players to build maps around density, and optimized Abyss strategies can produce extremely high experience rates.
The important comparison is not simply which mechanic has better individual rewards. Veterans are looking at how quickly they can clear an encounter, how much monster density it creates, and how consistently the strategy can be repeated.
For pure leveling, this makes Abyss attractive. Breach may still be worthwhile for players interested in its specific rewards, but an experience-focused character has different priorities from a character trying to maximize currency or crafting materials.
Runesmithing Remains an Experimental Area
Runesmithing is another system that has not been completely solved. Inscribing Ezite remnants with Pharaoh can allow players to experiment with older magical combinations on equipment.
Rather than blindly spending valuable materials, experienced players are testing different combinations and watching whether the resulting gear justifies the investment. Some combinations may look impressive on paper but provide little practical value once clear speed, survivability, and opportunity cost are considered.
That makes Runesmithing a good example of the current 0.5 environment. Players are still discovering where the strongest interactions actually exist.
The 0.5.5 Reset Changes the Priorities
The upcoming 0.5.5 patch is another reason veterans are reluctant to finalize permanent builds. Changes to Chaos Damage and Ignite damage-over-time mechanics could create new opportunities, particularly for Acolyte of Chayula setups.
At the same time, stat-stacking builds are being adjusted, meaning some currently powerful passive-tree strategies may become less attractive. Players therefore have a good reason to test rather than overinvest.
The temporary economy also encourages efficient preparation. Players interested in trading may use the current environment to build up resources, and services related to poe 2 rmt can become part of that wider economy. However, the approaching reset means the value of long-term preparation is naturally limited.
What Experienced Players Are Watching
The most interesting part of version 0.5 is that there is no single universally correct farming strategy yet. Delirium rewards careful positioning, Visium rewards planning, Abyss favors density, and Runesmithing rewards experimentation. Magic Find builds add another layer by changing how efficiently valuable drops can be accumulated.

For players following POE 2, this period is less about copying one established meta and more about understanding why certain strategies work. That knowledge should remain useful even after 0.5.5 changes the balance, because the fundamental lesson is simple: efficient endgame farming comes from building a complete loop rather than adding mechanics randomly.
